1 gen 1773 anni - Boston Tea Party & Massacre
Descrizione:
In 1773, the colonists retaliated from the unfair taxes Britain required them to pay. From the Boston port, more than 300 chests of tea were imported by the British West Indian Company. The colonists dressed up as native Americans, sneaked into the ships, and poured 342 chests of tea in the ocean. Those chests of tea were worth about 100,000 British pounds in those times. This event is known as the Boston Tea Party.
Due to this, the King of England sent armed forces to control the colonists. Once the troops arrived, colonists confronted them. This is known as the Boston Massacre, which is where British soldiers shot some colonists.
Although Democracy was not yet introduced in the colonies, the people of America were already tired of the British tyranny and wanted a democratic government. The people were tired of not having representation in the Parliament and of the taxes they had to pay. The colonists wanted to have the power to make decisions and a government where they, the people, would have the power to choose their government leaders.
