22 marzo 1765 anni - The Stamp Act of 1765
Descrizione:
This act would require a tax stamp on all printed items. The act would make you pay a penny for a sheet for newspapers and other items it could cost up to ten pounds like a lawyer's license. The stamp paper would be delivered to the colonies from England and then sold to printers. Benjamin Franklin was okay with being taxed only if they were allowed to have american representation in parliament and many citizens liked this idea, but others like William Pitt and the Connecticut assembly did not want that to happen because Pitt said it was too radical and the assembly declared that since England is so far away they could not participate in the general Legislature of England. After they were denied representation the colonists got angry.
