Commander Neil Armstrong, Lunar Module Pilot Buzz Aldrin, and Astronaut Michael Collins all flew in the Apollo 11 spacecraft, and became the first humans to land on the moon. Neil Armstrong stepped onto the moon first, and became the first of all humankind to ever plant his feet on the moon's surface. His famous words were "One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind", which is now a well-known saying all across the globe. Fun fact though, Buzz Aldrin was actually meant to step off the spaceship first, but Neil Armstrong probably didn't want to pass up such an opportunity that he shoved in front! Michael Collins, who sadly enough is hardly remembered as he stayed in the rocket whilst Armstrong and Aldrin left to explore. Collins is often referred to as the 'Forgotten Astronaut', unfortunately for him. However, all three men went down in the legends of history, and they paved the way for many more space expeditions, especially to the moon, and maybe one day an exploration of Mars.
