In 1949, Indigenous Australians whom had served in the war were allowed to vote, but it wasn't until 1962 that all of the First Nations people of Australia were finally given the right to vote. I think that it is outrageous that the Aboriginal Australians which were first on this land were given such a right as voting so late through the timeline of history. Indigenous Australians were considered sub-human back then. They were thought of as savages who lived on the outskirts, just simply part of the flora and fauna. This unfair treatment carried on through the years, but people soon noticed and leading up to when all Aboriginals could vote, there were many campaigns, protests, and more. The overall majority for the referendum for Aboriginal Australians' voting rights had a 'YES' vote of overall majority 91%! That closed-minded 9% soon learned that whatever their reason for voting 'NO', they were wrong, completely wrong.
