Chinese Communist leader Mao Zedong declared the creation of the People's Republic of China. The peoples republic of china has for seven decades been comparable to China. Since its foundation China has transformed from a traditional peasant society with poverty to one of the worlds largest and fastest growing economies. The new wealth and technology led to a contest for power in Asian affairs versus India, Japan and the United States. During the Mao era, tens of millions of people died during various political movements as well as during the Great Chinese Famine.
