About 11:20 p.m., a Ritzville officer and Washington State Patrol trooper responded to Love's Travel Stop, for a report of a suicidal person. The officers found the person in the parking lot, and the Ritzville officer Jeff Lane shot and killed Shawn Lee, who had allegedly approached the officers with a machete. A stun gun was reportedly used before the fatal shooting.
