Rick is spared from execution, but he along with the rest of the Alexandrians are labeled as hostile residents. As a result, all trades, government assistance, aid, and resources are suspended indefinitely. They are not allowed to contact other towns or people outside of Alexandria.

Diyoza is spared as well but forced to work with Alex in her tactical defense department. The two become uneasy friends since they have similar goals and beliefs, but never quite trust each other. Their daughters, on the other hand, become best friends very quickly, exactly as Alex intended.
