In 1925, Msgr. Krmpotic initiated the idea for St. John’s Catholic Club. This organization provided young people with a variety of activities, billiards, bowling, a gym. Baseball, football, and basketball teams were organized by the club. These teams played throughout the region, and provided an early beginning to individuals going on to play collegiate and professional ball. The Club also sponsored cultural activities meant to keep the music, dance, and traditions of Croatia prominent among the second generations.

A larger two story building, with the lower floor consisting of clubrooms and the upper floor an auditorium, was planned and construction began. The building was completed with the help of volunteers, both young and old. On June 24th, 1925 the building was blessed. The Club secured finances to install two bowling lanes, and to acquire bowling balls, two billiard tables and other fixtures. Over the years the Club sponsored competitions in activities and sports of all kinds. Bowling, baseball, basketball, football, and softball were some of the activities offered.
