1900 Committee formed to realize the goal of St John’s. With assistance of Fr. Kulisek from St. Joseph’s, committee persuaded Bishop Fink to grant request. Site selected at 4th and Barnett. Broke ground in 1900, 1902 the basement of the church was completed. Father Martin Davorin Krmpotic arrived from Croatia, providing the parish with a permanent priest. In 1905, the church was finished. In 1908, Msgr. Krmpotic arranged to have Oton Ivekovic, an artist from Zagreb, ornament the interior frescos.
