Microsoft, who is strong on working like with word and powerpoint, seemed like the perfect company to buy Yammer. It bought it in 2012 for 1.2 Billion dollars. The deal allowed Microsoft to improve upon Yammer and be able to co-exist with its other apps, meaning you can write on word while talking with co-workers.
