1 feb 1810 anni - Keats' mother, Frances, dies
Descrizione:
After her second marriage fell apart, Frances left the family, leaving her children in the care of her mother. She eventually returned to her children's life, but her life was in tatters.
In early 18010, Frances dies of tuberculosis. John is inconsolable.
His grandmother appoints two guardians and Richard Abbey takes control of the children’s finances. George Keats is sent to work at Abbey’s counting house and John is apprenticed to a local doctor, Thomas Hammond.
Tuberculosis will later be known as the 'family disease', claiming the lives of Keats and his brother Thomas too.
