On April 26, 1796, Napoleon Bonaparte delivered a Proclamation to his French Troop in Italy. At the age of 27, He had been granted the command of the French Army in Italy and this piece revealed his speed, deception, and surprise to outdo his enemies as well as showing his mastery of psychological warfare. Within the text, Napoleon is encouraging his army by telling them the success they have had like “you have won battles without cannon, crossed rivers without bridges” and “The two armies which but recently attacked you with audacity are fleeing before you in terror”. As his proclamation continues he reminds them of the work they have to continue for the betterment of France and expand its glory. The idea of French Patriotism grew from speeches as such and for the success, Napoleon had inflicted upon the army.
