1 gen 1669 anni - Ranaraj Singh of Mewar Moved Srinathji at Nathadwara

Descrizione:

Prakatya means to appear and sthali means place. Thus this is regarded as the place where the beautiful deity of Lord Gopal (Srinathji) appeared to Shrila Madhavendra Puri. During his stay at Vrindavan, once when Madhavendra Puri was resting under a tree, suddenly a small boy came to him with a pot of milk and asked him to drink it. He told him that he will return back to take the pot. Madhavendra Puri cleansed the pot and waited for the boy but he never came. One night when he was sleeping, the same cowherd boy came to his dream. Holding his hand the boy took him to a bush in a forest. Pointing towards the bush, he said that this is the place where I live and due to this bush I suffer the ambush of severe rain, cold and heat. He requested Madhavendra Puri to dig the place and recover him from beneath the land. The boy also instructed Madhavendra Puri to build a temple and install the Gopal deity in that temple on the top of Govardhan hill. Madhavendra Puri, with help of the other villagers dug that place and recovered the beautiful deity of Gopal (Srinathji) which was actually established about 4800 years ago by king Vajranabh. This deity was installed in the shrine built on the summit of the Govardhan Hill in the year 1520 A.D. In the anticipation of the attack of Mughal ruler Aurangzeb, the actual deity of Srinathji was moved to Nathdwara in the Udaipur by Ranaraj Singh of Mewar in 17th century and since then it’s worshipped over there. The Pratibhu Vigraha (replica) of Srinathji is now worshipped here on the top of Govardhan hill in a small, somewhat modern shrine which was built later after the old shrine was fallen down to ruins. Behind the place of Gopal Prakatya sthali there is bhajani shila (rock) which emanates different sounds when tapped.
