1 agos 1963 anni - March on Washington for jobs and freedom (see description)

Descrizione:

Wednesday, the 28th of August 1963, was held the most symbolic and known event from the whole Civil Rights Movement : the march on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. Approximately 250 000 people, including 60 000 white citizens, were united in this march to advocate for the civil and economic rights of the African Americans. The event was broadcasted on a lot if not all television channels, because it was the first time the Civil Rights Movements would take such a big magnitude. In fact, even before the leaders of the march arrived on the streets of Washington D.C, the black and white protestants could no longer be held back and started walking, clapping and singing already. The highlight of the day was the famous "I have a dream" speech from the young and brave Martin Luther King, fighting and calling for the end of segregation. After the March, the orators and the speakers went to the House for a meeting with president Kennedy, who said that he was scared to be booed during the March. However, the discussion was peaceful and a victory for the President and the CRM.
