The third and final of three major amendments came 5 years after the war concluded, and gave the political presence to African Americans who lacked it previously:

"The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude."

All of the amendments were made by nobleman who understood that true leadership came through having a sense of respect for the people who laid the groundwork so that they could have a profitable life. '
