In 395 AD, Rome split into two empires -- the Western Roman Empire and the Eastern Roman Empire. Each side had a rulker iun charge of it. The Roman Empire was split by Theodosius. The Roman Empire had grown so vast taht it was no longer feasible to govern all the provinces from the central sea of Rome, so they split it.
