31 dic 1965 anni - May: The Communist Party of China (CCP) proclaims the beginning of the Cultural Revolution. June: First organized Red Guard brigade formed, party calls for the purging of all "imperialists." August: Zedong and the party continue the call for purging rightists and a mass revolution. September: More than a thousand people are murdered or forced to suicide by the Red Guard in Shanghai. August-November: Tiananmen Square receives estimated 11 million Red Guards on eight different occasions.
