1 gen 1895 anni - WWII years

Descrizione:

-The First Sino-Japanese War (1895) resulted in Japan's seizure of Taiwan.
-Nationalists and Communists joined forces in order to fight a common enemy being Japan
After that and the string of costly losses, the Chinese were less inclined to go toe to toe with the Japanese.
-As a result, the Japanese methodically moved south, seizing control of most of eastern China, and all of the major ports. The ports were a major priority. China unlike Japan had not industrialized.
- China did not have modern infrastructure system, so moving west into the interior made it increasingly difficult for the Japanese even with superior military forces. And even worse, as they seized more of China, they had to garrison (occupy with soldiers) their conquests. This meant that more and more troops were needed, increasing the cost of the war.
-During world war 2 the chinese communists and the chinese nationalists had agreed to temporarily stop their civil war in the face of common threat posed by japanese aggression.
