Contraceptives are used in preventing a pregnancy from happening if you a person is not ready to have child. Some types of contraceptives include the birth control pill, condoms, the morning after, and more. The birth control pill prevents pregnancies from happening by giving you hormones to prevent a woman from ovulating. Condoms are used during sex to prevent sperm from getting to the egg and fertilizing it. The morning after pill prevents pregnancies by doing one of three things: Temporarily stops the release of an egg from the ovary. Prevents fertilization. Prevents a fertilized egg from attaching to the uterus.

STI'S:
Bacterial sti's include: Gonorrhea, Syphilis, Chlamydia, etc. These can be treated with antibiotics.
Viral Std's include: HIV, HPV, Herpes, Hepatitis. There are no cures for viral std's, but they can be treated to help lessen the symptoms.

Chlamydia and gonorrhea are important preventable causes of pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) and infertility.
