Charles Lindbergh, born on February 4, 1902, was an American aviator, military officer, author, inventor, explorer, and environmental activist. He won the Orteig Prize in 1927, making the 33.5 hour flight from Long Island, NY to Paris, France. This was a first: flying by plane to a European country. This journey was 3,600 miles long, and would help in the advances of plane technology come time for WWII.
