Dr. James Naismith was an author, inventor and best known for the invention of basketball. He was born in 1861 and died in 1939. He invented basketball in 1891 and since then basketball has been a global sport played all around the world. His influence in the basketball world led him to be the first inductee of the basketball hall of fame and he was also inducted into Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame. His influence in the invention of the game led to over 450 million people playing the game in the present time. If it was not for him, the game of basketball would not have existed.
