The Fort Laramie Treaty was a series of treaties that gave certain allotments of land to the Indians. The goal of the treaties was to create peace, both between tribes and between the Indians and the US government. However, these agreements were broken by the government and the land allotted to the Indians shrunk to a fraction of its initial area.
