In the early years of the computer, many didn't see any reason to make the computer a household device, but the release of VisiCalc revealed one of the many possible uses of the computer.
Accountants across the world rejoiced with the release of VisiCalc, as it eased many of the tedious parts of their profession. Once people saw how useful computers were to accountants, they began to wonder what other unharnessed potential the computer may hold, and public interest increased immensely.
