1 gen 100 anni a. C. - Antikythera mechanism is built

Descrizione:

The Antikythera mechanism was retrieved from the ocean in 1901, and was eventually discovered to be an ancient Greek device dated back to approximately 100 BCE. This device was designed to predict astronomical positions, allowing calendars to be developed years in advance.

Although this mechanism didn't influence modern computer science very much, it gives us insight on ancient minds, and is an example of advanced thinking centuries before the concept of the computer was said to have originated. The ideas that drove computer science didn't suddenly appear in the 1800s, humans have been conceptualizing these ideas for years, and when technology advanced, we were finally given the resources to develop these ideas further. This mechanism is one of many examples of early "computers", and relics like these are what give us insight into early thought.
