1 agos 1853 anni - The U.S shows up in Japan

Descrizione:

The U.S sent a fleet of ships under the command of Mathew Perry. He was sent to open up the ports of Japan for free trade and end Japan’s self-isolation. Japan had an example of what these western powers could do right next to them, China. Japan had all the necessary information to make the right decision. A couple of treaties were signed by Japan in response to Matthew Perrys arrival. These treaties had opened up a couple of ports in Japan. The Japanese realized the lack of power their ruler had replaced the shogunate with the emperor. This was known as the Meiji restoration.
