Gettysburg was one of the most important battles of the American Civil War. It was fought between General Meade of the Union and General Lee of the Confederacy. General Lee was confident since he had just won a decisive victory at Chancellorsville. After heavy fighting, however, the Union side came out on top and Lee’s second invasion of the North was stopped.
