Ichigo is taught by Unohana, who used it distract irritated Ichigo, when he had beed restlessly stuck inside one of the Division's medical tents and hadn't been allowed to leave, how to place his Reiatsu into things (water, liquid, ect) as well as teach him how to use it to restore a person's health. Ichigo bored out of his mind worked o the technique until even Unohana was impressed.
