In 1391, Jewish people were forced to convert to Christianity (They were called Conversos) because of a riot that killed a lot of Jews. The Jewish people were forbidden to practice Judaism by the church, so they would practice Judaism secretly, (They were called Marranos) without anyone knowing.

Jewish people being forced to convert to Christianity was important because the Christian individuals hated anyone who wasn’t similar to themselves. Christian individuals would kill any Jewish individual who still practiced Judaism. In 1481, King Fredinand and Queen Isabella of Spain were given permission to torture Jewish individuals who would convert Conversos back to Judism. (This was called Judaizing)
