This plan, devised by Dr Hjalmar Schacht was aimed to solve the economic crisis after the Great Depression and enable Hitler to rearm.
This is how it worked:
-Limit how much and what could be imported.
-Make trade agreements with individual countries to get raw materials and exchange German goods.
-Government spending was channelled into a wide range of industries
-Reducing unemployment, this included creation of jobs (new housing and autobahns), compulsory Labour, conscription in 1935, dismissing Jews, political opponents and other racially impure people so that they could be replaced with unemployed people. Unemployment began to dramatically fall.
This plan solved the economic crisis from 34-36, however in 1935, Hitler wanted to quickly prepare for war but Schacht told him it wasn't possible. Schacht lost his position and eventually ended up in a concentration camp.
Germany also developed a massive secret debt of over 40 million Reichsmark in 38/39.
