Martin Cooper Motorola was the first company to produce a handheld mobile phone. On April 3, 1973, Martin Cooper, a Motorola researcher and executive, made the first mobile telephone call from handheld subscriber equipment, placing a call to Dr. Joel S. Engel of Bell Labs. Mobile phones were invented as early as the 1940s when engineers working at AT&T developed cells for mobile phone base stations. The very first mobile phones were not really mobile phones at all. The purpose was for two-way radios that allowed people like taxi drivers and the emergency services to communicate. The cellphone's main purpose is to keep people connected, regardless of the distance that separates them. Cellphones, much like traditional phones, allow you to place and receive calls. The purpose for them in computing and society is for better means of communication, learning options for users, great exposure to the latest things, ways to simple ways to access applications, ideas to succeed in business, platforms to grow their applications and more.
