In 1911 Rutheford and his team conducted an experiment to show that atoms are mostly space and a lot of mass is concentrated in the nucleus. After the experiment, Rutheford concluded that a positive charge has to be present in the nucleus of an atom and not spread throughout the atom. Niels Bohr a scientist was really interested so he decided to join Rutheford's team and fix any flaws that his theory had.
