Between 1972 and 1974, Fred Parke and Ed Catmull created at the University of Utah some of the earliest -- and slightly creepy -- examples of 3D modelled and animated mesh.
They were created using a software fully programmed by Catmull, which went on to become a co-founder of Pixar and President of Pixar and Walt Disney Animation Studios, while Parke remain mainly in Academia.
"Faces and Body Parts" was the first talking polygonal human with advanced shading been created.
