The sign "all are welcome at God's table" epitomizes the inclusive and welcoming parish St. George's strives to be. We work with the local diversity forum, recently hosted an evening of food and fellowship for international summer workers, and are the founding supporting church of the local LGBTQ Christians. More than that we seek to be a warm and supportive community for all who need assistance and healing. More than any other item or feature, we feel this sign helps identify us as Progressive Christians.
The Time of Wonder Learning Center is at the heart of the mission of St. George’s. More than three years ago, St. George’s assisted a failing day care facility in Kittery and gradually took over. Now, we are proud that this work has continued with a brand new childcare center located in the bottom level of the parish. The day care provides high quality care and welcomes families that utilize State vouchers. Through the dedication of the St. George’s community, the church works to provide a safe, accessible space for children of all backgrounds to learn and explore. Numerous St. George’s volunteers serve on the Board of Directors and assist in the classrooms with the guidance of certified teachers.
Recently, TWLC was certified to include children with autism in its programs. IT continues to grow in its service to the community providing quality, affordable child care and a positive academic experience for each child.
“One of our goals in undertaking the capital campaign was to more aggressively use our facility for mission. Now, five days a week, we drive up to the church and see our mission at work.”
