27 sett 1918 anni - Death of Polly Wilson
Descrizione:
"At the loud explosion, the good, generous heart of Polly Wilson stopped beating" (79).
While on their drive together to Blaine Lake, something in John snaps.
He has a gun hiding in the back, one that he is only supposed to be using to shoot geese. However, that is not the only thing he intends to use it for.
After shooting a goose, John doesn't put the gun in the back of the vehicle. Polly becomes suspicious, and can sense something wrong. Before she knows what's happening, John sends a bullet through her head.
Polly Wilson, as well as the growing baby inside of her, has been murdered by her own husband.
John digs a hole for her in the ground, and burries her before anyone sees.
In the morning, John rolls his car, and is forced to phone policemen to come help him. He has no time to cover up the crime scene, and some of Pollyès blood was spotted on a suitcase.
This is arguably the most significant part of the story. Polly is dead. John shot her. This brings up a whole bunch of new questions involving Polly's kids, Jessie and John's relationship, and if John will ever get discovered for his crimes.
