My siblings and I are opening presents. My parents are extremely silent.

My dad mumbled something to my mom once we were finished and he walked out the front door. My mom followed him. Nearly 30 minutes later, she came back inside. He had taken the minivan. Most of his clothes were already gone. I remembered seeing large bags of all his things the past few weeks filling the hallways of our home. He didn't come back.
