Description: The Freed Men's Bureau was established in 1865 as an effort to help millions of recently freed people of color by giving them land, education, practical aid. This was a bold move by the government and it really helped the freed slaves but when Andrew Johnson became president he got rid of the Freedmen's Bureau and gave the land back to the southerners.
Causes: Due to the abolishment of slavery there were lots of poor people of color who needed a fresh start so they got land.
Effects. It really helped people of color get a fresh start while it was still active and it gave millions of former slaves a new place to start.
