Once Toven was killed, Rikjoert cleaned himself up, redressed in finer clothes, and called an emergency meeting of Toven's Council an hour later. There around 8:30PM, he proclaimed himself as king as Toven's lifeless body lay across the ground in the throne room of Karmen Castle. The council agreed to his proclamation and immediately, Rikjoert had all the members arrested for treason. The next morning, he sent out letters to those he wanted for his council.

He said to the council, "One hour ago, I killed King Toven with my hands. He first attacked me for a reason I [do] not know and we fought for a long time until I killed him. With his death, I will proclaim myself as the next King of the Oipientians and will rule better than him.
