6 feb 1685 anni - Death of Charles II
Descrizione:
He had been really interested in chemistry and alchemy in his years, so much so that he created the Chemical Physician to the King office. He appointed someone else to run the science lab, but he was always in there experimenting and observing. In the beginning of 1684, he started to become really sick and it continued to get worse until the last week of January of the year he died. Many people thought that he has been poisoned, and the treatments that doctors used on him were brutal. They gave him an enema of all these different liquids, and some solid bits too. He died of a stroke, in modern medical terms, but the reason that he had been sick in the first place was because of his love of chemistry. While in his lab, he had been exposed to a lot of mercury vapor and that is very dangerous to inhale. James II became king later that year.
