With the rule of Queen Victoria, many things had happened throughout the Victorian time period that changed British society for the rest of their history. Throughout this time, slavery had been abolished, the workforce had increased, the royal navy was at its highest influence in this time, etc. The British government had enforced many things throughout this time that benefited their society and helped grow their country as a whole. With the abolishment of slavery, there were not only free men in the world, along with the rights they were later able to gain, but the abuse of men had started declining at a high rate, and the work force of Britain had begun to thrive. Although there were many benefits through this time, there were also some very negative things that the government had done. With the role of the church being at a all time high, the British government had kept homosexuality illegal in the country, while prostitution remained legal as people still hadn’t decided if they should abolish it or not. This had hurt and demeaned a large sum of the British society. This had people tormented and suffering as they were terrorized for their sexuality.
