29 apr 2019 anni - The Time is Now
Descrizione:
The word contemporary means belonging to or living in the present. Therefore, contemporary literature is set in the present time. All literature written after World War II up until the current date is considered contemporary. With the time period being the present, the contemporary period of literature is drastically different than all other historical literary periods because as we are studying the literary period, it is currently shaping into itself and new works are continuously being published.
The contemporary period within British literature represents current political, social and personal issues. Since the period is happening now, contemporary literature is often more relatable, easier to comprehend, enjoyable and more realistic as authors are writing about events happening in the present.
Electronic literature has become a new genre during this period due to the creation of the internet (which was invented by Sir Timothy Berners-Lee, an English computer scientist) such as blog format books, digital fiction, and graphic novels. Another interesting aspect of the contemporary period is how with the advancement of technology, writers from the most remote parts of the world can reach a national audience, and writers from all over the world especially from Britain have begun to influence world literature.
