From the epics of the Shahnama, poems about kingship. This manuscript was created by the Safavid dynasty in the 16th century by Shah Tahmasp, the son of the original creator. Shah had a unique art style due to his training in Herat, Afghanistan. He forwarded illumination (art with a manuscript) and literature. In 1568 this manuscript was gifted to the current sultan of the Ottoman empire. The painting also included Chinese motifs such as stylized clouds. Made out of ink, opaque watercolor and gold on paper by Sultan Muhammad.
