His brother, King Rolísis the Mad had wanted to send Zerifo away as he was growing very popular among Oipientians for his successes in battle and kind personality. However, the reason why he wanted him to wed a Queen in another continent was that he needed the support for war, their special steel which was said to be very difficult to bend, and have another ally. Zerifo reluctantly agreed even though he had been dating a girl in Kueplios for about 5 years.

The day before Zerifo left for Kaal, the two brothers had one final duel together for old times sake. The duel ended with Zerifo beating Rolísis as Zerifo was a much better swordsman than his brother. During it, Rolísis revealed that he did accept the Mad Serpent Prophecy and that he enjoyed being called the Mad as it gave him the idea that it instilled fear into his enemies.
