7 lugl 1986 anni - Bethel School District v. Fraser
Descrizione:
Matthew Fraser made a speech at a school assembly nominating another student for an elective office. He included speech that some considered to be too graphically sexual. The school then suspended him for two days. The court ruled 7-2 in favor of the school district. They decided that sexual or lewd speech was not protected by the decision made in the Tinker v. Des Moines case which protected political speech in schools, so it did not fall under the protection of the First Amendment.
This case helped set the rules for what is and isn't protected by free speech, especially in schools. According to this case, speech that could be considered sexual or lewd is not protected in schools. This is important because it restricts students from saying certain things at school or school sponsored events, especially if it is inappropriate or goes against school policies.
