An attack by Susquehannock and allied tribes against the New Dutch. The Susquehannock were on friendlier terms with the New Swedish as compared to the New Dutch. So when the colony of the former was annexed by the colony of the latter, they launched an assault. 600 warriors attacked New Amsterdam, destroying property and taking 150 hostages. The war was named as such because the New Dutch believed the attack to be a retaliation against the killing of a Wappinger woman that stole a peach.
