Russia established its first parliament in October of 1905. The Duma was established because Nicholas II was practically forced to because of the Bloody Sunday Massacre. There were many Dumas created over time but they all ended pretty fast. The first Duma only lasted 2 weeks before Nicholas II disbanded it because he claims “all they did was complain about everything I do”. The Duma was really mad and soon enough the party fell apart. There were 3 more Duma’s that also failed quickly over the next 10 or so years. This is important to the Russian Revolution because it was Russia's first form of democracy and it showed how the country was not strong enough to have this type of government.
