8 months is what the provisional government was planned to last. The allies recognized it as a legitimate government. This Provisional government kept Russia in the war. This government had a few competent people. Laws that had seem to promise Russia a new era were passed. Poland was given independence, and all the people had equal rights and were considered equal. All of the government officials were to be elected by the people.
