Goebbels became the chancellor in Hitler’s absence for a single day, before his wife and he killed his children to save them from a life without Nazism and followed in Hitler’s footsteps. The next day, on May 2nd, the remaining German forces surrendered to the Soviets, and the war in Europe was officially over.
