Napoleon Bonaparte became Emperor of France in 1804 and his reign came to an end in 1814 upon his defeat and exile in the Napoleonic Wars. He would escape from his exile and return in 1815 for a breif time before being exiled again in a much more remote location (St. Helena in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean)
