In 1770 March 5, British soldiers were in stationed in the city, one of them being Private White, who was recently involved in the death of a young boy, Edward Garrick. Over fifty citizens decided to harass the two soldiers, as things started to get out of hand, the soldiers called for backup. Eight more soldiers came to scene and the crowd grew to 200 people whom eventually started to throw snowballs, ice, mud, and coal at the redcoats. One of the first to die was a black citizen, Crispus Attucks, both the crowd and soldiers reacted violently, this gained media attention this riot ended up being known as “The Boston Massacre”. After the Boston Massacre, the Committee of Correspondence grew to life and played a major role in the American Revolution, soon to come.
