The very first modern Olympic games were held in Athens, Greece. The International Olympic committee met for the first time in Paris in June 1984 and decided that Greece was the inaugural modern Olympiad. There were 241 male athletes that represented 14 nations and competed in 43 event, no women competed in the Olympics.
